1. Who we are
Dojo12.com is an international e-learning platform providing online courses, quizzes, flashcards, audio lessons, videos, and downloadable educational materials focused on strategy board games. The platform is operated by Serge Williams, a business registered in the Province of Quebec, Canada, and based in Longueuil, Quebec, Canada. You can reach us at contact@dojo12.com.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to purchase products or create an account. Minors may use the platform only with the consent and under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on their behalf. By using the platform, you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate and complete.
3. Educational purpose & no guarantees
All content on Dojo12.com is provided for educational and informational purposes only. While we aim to help you learn and improve, we make no representation or warranty that any particular outcome will be achieved. Dojo12 does not guarantee specific game results, win rates, rankings, tournament outcomes, or measurable skill improvement. Results depend on many factors outside our control, including your own practice and effort.
4. User accounts & security
To access most products you must create an account. You are responsible for:
- maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials;
- all activity that occurs under your account; and
- notifying us immediately at contact@dojo12.com of any unauthorized use or security breach.
We are not liable for any loss arising from your failure to keep your credentials secure. We may refuse, suspend, or cancel any account at our reasonable discretion, in particular where these Terms are breached.
5. No account sharing
Your account, purchases, and access rights are personal, non-transferable, and for your individual use only. You may not share, lend, sell, or otherwise give access to your account or course content to any other person. Sharing of login credentials, use of a single account by multiple individuals, or any attempt to circumvent access controls is a material breach of these Terms. Where we detect concurrent logins from multiple locations, credential sharing, or other indicators of shared use, we may suspend or terminate the account without refund, and pursue any other remedy available to us.
6. Intellectual property
All content made available on Dojo12.com — including but not limited to courses, lessons, text, quizzes, flashcards, audio recordings, video, images, graphics, software, downloadable files, the Dojo12 name and logo, and the selection, arrangement, and structure of the foregoing — is owned by Serge Williams or our licensors and is protected by Canadian, United States, European, and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved.
“Dojo12” and “Dojo12.com” are business and brand names operated by Serge Williams. Any copyright notice, watermark, credit, or mark displayed as “© Dojo12.com” (or similar) on our courses, videos, audio, flashcards, or other materials identifies Serge Williams as the legal owner of that content. Removing, obscuring, altering, or circumventing any such notice or watermark is strictly prohibited and constitutes a breach of these Terms and an infringement of our intellectual-property rights.
Except as expressly permitted in Section 7, you may not reproduce, copy, distribute, publicly display, perform, broadcast, sell, rent, sub-license, modify, translate, create derivative works from, publish, or otherwise exploit any content, in whole or in part, without our prior written permission.
7. Your licence to use the content
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and full payment, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to access and view the purchased content, for your own personal, non-commercial educational use, for the applicable access period (Section 10). This licence does not transfer any ownership rights to you. You may not use any content for commercial purposes, including teaching paid classes, reselling, or redistributing it, without a separate written licence from us.
8. Prohibited conduct
You agree that you will not, and will not permit anyone else to:
- download, record, screen-capture, scrape, or copy content except where a download function is expressly provided for your personal use;
- circumvent, disable, or interfere with any digital rights management, access control, or security feature;
- republish, post, stream, or distribute any content on file-sharing sites, social media, messaging groups, or any other public or private channel;
- use the platform or content to build, train, or populate any competing product, dataset, or machine-learning model;
- use bots, scrapers, or automated means to access the platform;
- upload malicious code or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users’ accounts;
- use the platform for any unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purpose.
Violation of this section, including content piracy and account sharing, may result in immediate termination without refund and may expose you to civil and criminal liability.
9. Purchases, pricing & payment
Prices are displayed on the platform and may be shown in one or more currencies. We may change prices at any time, but changes will not affect purchases already completed. You are responsible for any applicable taxes, duties, currency-conversion fees, or bank charges.
Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. By making a purchase you also agree to Stripe’s terms. We do not store your full card details. You represent that you are authorized to use the payment method you provide. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order where we suspect fraud, a chargeback risk, or a breach of these Terms.
10. Access period
Unless a different duration is stated on the product page at the time of purchase, access to a purchased course is granted for 12 months from the date of purchase. At the end of the access period your access may end automatically. The access period and any specific terms shown on the product page form part of these Terms.
11. Refund policy
Because our products are digital goods delivered electronically and accessible immediately upon purchase, all sales are final and, as a general rule, payments are non-refundable.
Notwithstanding the above, we may, at our sole discretion and on a case-by-case basis, review a refund request — for example in cases of duplicate charges, proven technical inability to access the content that we cannot resolve, or other exceptional circumstances. To request a review, email contact@dojo12.com with your order number and the reason for your request. Any refund granted is discretionary and does not waive this policy for future purchases.
Consumers in the European Union, EEA, and United Kingdom
If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA, or UK, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance purchase. However, for digital content supplied immediately, this right is lost once supply has begun with your prior consent. By purchasing and accessing the content immediately, you expressly request that we begin supplying the digital content before the end of the 14-day withdrawal period, and you acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal once access has begun. Where you have not yet accessed the content, your statutory withdrawal right continues to apply for 14 days.
This Section 11 does not limit any non-waivable statutory consumer rights that apply to you under the mandatory law of your country of residence.
12. Third-party trademarks & no affiliation
Board-game names and related marks — including Catan®, Ticket to Ride®, Carcassonne®, and any others referenced on the platform — are the trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners (for example, Catan GmbH and Asmodee Group; Days of Wonder; Hans im Glück). These owners are not affiliated with, do not sponsor, and do not endorse Dojo12.com.
Dojo12 is an independent educational platform. We reference these names only to describe and identify the games our educational content relates to (nominative fair use). No claim of ownership, partnership, endorsement, or official affiliation is made or implied. All rights in the games, their rules, artwork, and components belong to their respective owners.
13. User-generated content
If the platform lets you post reviews, comments, forum messages, or other material, you retain ownership of what you post but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, display, and use it for operating and promoting the platform. You are responsible for what you post; it must be lawful, accurate, and respectful, and must not infringe anyone’s rights. We may remove any content at our discretion.
14. Availability of the service
The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We strive to keep it available at all times and use reasonable, industry-standard practices, including hosting on cloud infrastructure, to maintain a high level of uptime. However, we do not guarantee that the platform or its facilities will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or free of defects, faults, or errors. The platform may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues, and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time.
We accept no liability for any disruption or non-availability of the platform resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: failure of internet service providers, hosting or server equipment, or communications networks; power failures; natural events; acts of war or terrorism; and legal restrictions or censorship. We do not provide refunds, credits, or compensation for temporary outages or downtime.
15. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the platform and all content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the content is complete, current, or error-free.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Dojo12 and Serge Williams, together with its directors, employees, and agents, shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the platform, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the platform shall not exceed the total amount you paid to us for the product giving rise to the claim during the 12 months preceding the event. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
17. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dojo12 and Serge Williams, and its directors, employees, and agents, from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the platform or content, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
18. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without notice and without refund, if you breach these Terms — in particular Sections 5 (no account sharing), 6 (intellectual property), or 8 (prohibited conduct). On termination, the licence granted to you ends and you must stop using all content. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 6, 8, 11, 15, 16, 17, and 20) survive termination.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date shows the latest version. Material changes will take effect when posted, and your continued use of the platform after that constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the platform.
20. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence, you agree that the courts located in the judicial district of Longueuil, Quebec, shall have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
21. General provisions
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with any terms shown on a product page and our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the platform and supersede any prior agreements.
No waiver. Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision.
Severability. If any provision is held unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, that provision is severed and the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
No third-party rights. These Terms do not confer any rights on any third party. The agreement is between you and Dojo12.
Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including internet or hosting outages, power failures, natural events, or acts of government.
Notices. Notices to us must be sent to contact@dojo12.com or by post to our address below. We may give you notice by email to the address on your account or by posting on the platform.
